With impulses instead of chemicals

Effective & sustainable wastewater treatment

Comprex® efficiently removes deposits in pipes throughout the entire wastewater treatment process.

When deposits jeopardize operation

Typical challenges - and how we solve them

Wastewater treatment plants need perfectly functioning pipes – they are the lifelines between the individual treatment steps. Comprex® helps to maintain or restore the operational safety of your wastewater treatment process.

01
The problem

Every large sewage treatment plant has hundreds of meters of pipes to transport water and sludge through the various treatment stages. This produces large quantities of sewage sludge.

In primary, excess and thick sludge lines as well as grease and centrate lines, sticky deposits form time and again during operation.

These deposits constrict the cross-section, lead to pressure build-up and reduce the delivery rate of the pumps. If no action is taken, there is a risk of blockages or failure of units and cleaning stages.

02
The solution

Pipes in wastewater treatment plants can be cleaned effectively with Comprex®. The connections are usually in place – deposits are effectively removed with pulses of air and (process) water.

In the case of stubborn deposits or crystalline consistency, rock salt can also support the pulse rinse.

Conversions or decommissioning are generally not necessary. Pumping times and discharge quantities of the treatment processes are taken into account.

Typical areas of application:

  • Sludge and centrate lines
  • Service water systems
  • Digester gas lines
03
The result

Comprex® helps to avoid complete pipe blockages, damage or operational interruptions. Early action enables a problem-free cleaning process and optimum results.

Your systems will run smoothly again and maintenance costs will be significantly reduced.

With Comprex® we contribute to condition-based maintenance. We help maintain or restore operational safety for your wastewater treatment process.

Regular cleaning prevents new deposits and ensures stable operating conditions in the long term.

How Comprex® sustainably improves the performance of your wastewater treatment system

Deposits in the pipes of your wastewater treatment plants are removed quickly and easily. Our technology maintains or restores performance – without the risk of solid displacers getting stuck, as is the case when using pigs, for example.

3 steps to a clean line

Step 1 Analysis & planning

We work with you to plan the optimum cleaning operation – individually tailored to your business, the condition of the pipes and your objectives.

Pipes in sewage treatment plants can usually be cleaned quickly and easily with Comprex®. Storz-C flush connections are usually already in place at the required locations or nearby.

Step 2 Preparation

We plan the cleaning sections together with you, determine the entry and exit points and take care of all the logistics. Our team of technicians will come to you with the right equipment and stay on site for the duration of the project.

Details on our mobile cleaning systems and self-sufficient trailers for different nominal widths can be found here. We are also happy to implement permanently integrated solutions with you.

Step 3 Cleaning & commissioning

Deposits are reliably removed using the Comprex® process. In addition to air, only your process water is used as a working medium. The water is easily fed into sumps or basins. Conversions or decommissioning are generally not necessary. Pumping times and feed quantities of the treatment processes are taken into account. In contrast to the pigging insert, there is no risk of plugging lead.

We recommend regular cleaning at set intervals to ensure that the pipes remain efficient in the long term.

Frequently asked questions about cleaning in wastewater treatment

How does cleaning with Comprex® work?

The process works with specifically controlled air-water pulses. These move through the pipe at high speed (up to 70 km/h) and generate strong shear and drag forces. This efficiently mobilizes and removes deposits, biofilms and solids – completely without chemicals and with minimal use of water.

Comprex® is suitable for a wide range of pressure pipes in wastewater technology – whether long transportation routes, pipes with large nominal diameters or sections with difficult hydraulics. Cleaning is individually tailored to the pipe length, material and conditions on site.

Depending on the system structure, cleaning during partial operation is also possible. Our team will check the technical and operational requirements with you in advance – including bypass solutions or temporary detour.

The duration depends on the length, dimensions and degree of soiling of the pipe. Smaller sections can often be cleaned in one day, but for larger projects we plan the process in stages – efficiently and with minimal interruption.

We document the discharge results visually and – if required – with additional measurement technology (e.g. turbidity data). This allows you to track and document the success of the measure.

In contrast to pure water flushing, Comprex® generates a significantly higher cleaning performance thanks to the impulse effect.
The pulses mobilize and accelerate blocks of water that move through the pipe at high speed.
This reliably removes even stubborn deposits and biofilms – resource-saving, chemical-free and effective.
